Mutiny Joke Academy

Mondays 6-8p , $300-$500 (Sliding Scale)

Six weeks of instruction & workshop. Culminating in a stand up performance for an audience at Mutiny Radio.

Fall 2023 Session Now Open for Registration: Oct 23rd, 30th & Nov 6, 13, 20, 27 Public Show Monday Dec 4th

What to expect:

• 12 hrs instruction/workshop (also podcast)

• 3 min set of jokes (stage ready)

• 5 min set of jokes (stage ready)

• Final live conedy show with audience

• Tape of 5 min set in front of audience useable for submissions 

Meet Pam Benjamin, Founder & Professor

Pam Benjamin has been a stand up comic for 12 years in San Francisco and has been dubbed "The GodMother of Comedy" because she's been providing consistent stage time 7 days a week through Mutiny Radio.  She has a MA in Creative Writing Fiction and an MFA in poetry from SFSU and was a credentialed special education teacher.  She also ran Beacon Theatre Company in San Diego producing and directing plays by local playwrights.  She has taught in many artistic mediums for ages ranging from small children to adults as well as in university settings.  She's run the "Joke Workshop" every monday since 2014 (You can listen to the entire archive here: https://podcasts.pcrcollective.org/JokeWorkshop/ ) She has 2 published novels as well as over 50 national and internationally published poems. Pam wants to help you write jokes and perform them on stage or create and hone your poetry in workshop settings.
